Minecraft Server and Network Setup

From a single survival server to a network of several game modes, we build your Minecraft infrastructure. We pick the right server software for your player count (Paper, Purpur or Folia), join servers into one network with Velocity, write plugins tailored to your needs and find and fix the sources of lag by measuring them.

What this service covers.

These items are planned together or separately depending on the project. We clarify which ones you need during the discovery call.

  • Server setup on Paper, Purpur or Folia
  • Multi-server networks with Velocity (or BungeeCord)
  • Custom Java plugins built on the Paper API
  • Lag analysis (spark), world pre-generation and performance tuning
  • Setup and tuning of anti-cheat plugins
  • Permissions, shared database and cross-server data
  • Discord link, store and website integration
  • Hosting, backups and version upgrades

Minecraft server setup: Paper, Purpur or Folia

The vanilla server is fine for a few friends, but once you want plugins and a larger player base you need Paper-based software. Paper is compatible with Bukkit and Spigot plugins and performs noticeably better than vanilla. Purpur builds on Paper and adds extra gameplay settings, which suits survival and SMP servers that want to fine-tune how the game plays.

Folia takes a different approach: it splits the world into regions and runs them in parallel across several CPU cores. That is a big advantage at very high player counts, but many plugins are not compatible with Folia and have to be written for it. We decide together which software fits by looking at the plugins you want to use and the player count you are aiming for.

Building a Minecraft network with Velocity

To offer several modes such as a lobby, survival, skyblock or minigames under one address, we put the servers behind a proxy. Velocity is the recommended proxy for this today; its modern forwarding passes player information to backend servers more securely than BungeeCord, and it uses fewer resources. We close the backend servers to direct connections so players can only join through the proxy.

The real challenge in a network is keeping data consistent across servers. We manage permissions with LuckPerms on a shared database and share data such as economy balances, player profiles and punishments between servers. When a player moves from one mode to another, their permissions, balance and any active punishment move with them. As the network grows, adding a new mode no longer means rebuilding what is there.

Custom Minecraft plugin development

Servers built only from ready-made plugins start to look alike. We write custom Java plugins on the Paper API for your own game mode, economy, quests, events and menus. We keep database and network calls off the main thread so the plugin does not drag down the server's TPS, and we make configuration editable by admins who do not write code.

We also port existing plugins to new Minecraft versions, modify open-source plugins to fit your needs and resolve conflicts between plugins. Discord linking, store and website integrations can be built as part of the same project. You receive the source code of plugins we write for you.

Lag analysis, anti-cheat and hosting

The most common causes of lag in Minecraft are new chunk generation, too many entities, redstone contraptions and badly written plugins. We use spark to measure where the server spends its time each tick, pre-generate the world so exploration no longer causes load spikes, and adjust settings such as view and simulation distance to your player count.

We tune anti-cheat plugins to your server's game mode; a setting that works on a PvP server can cause unfair kicks on a building server. On the hosting side we take regular backups, and we move to new Minecraft versions only after checking plugin compatibility and testing on a staging server first. That way your players do not log in to a broken server on update day.

Frequently asked questions, answered briefly.

For most servers Paper is the safest choice, with wide plugin compatibility and good performance. Purpur suits you if you want finer control over gameplay settings. Folia is designed for very high player counts but is not compatible with many plugins.

We recommend Velocity for new networks. Its modern forwarding passes player information to backend servers more securely and it uses fewer resources. If you depend on a plugin that only runs on BungeeCord, we first look for a Velocity equivalent or adapt the plugin.

It depends on scope. A command or small feature takes a few days; a full game mode or a complex economy system takes a few weeks. Once we understand what you need we give you a clear timeline and quote.

We start by measuring with spark where the server spends its time. The cause is usually chunk generation, too many entities, redstone or a single plugin. Once we find it, we fix it through world pre-generation, configuration changes or plugin fixes.

Yes. We host your server on a KVM-based VPS or VDS and take care of backups and version upgrades. If you would rather stay with your current provider, we can set up and maintain the server there instead.
